Many people today are living in a constant state of activation — stressed, overstimulated, exhausted, yet unable to fully switch off.
If you’ve ever struggled to sleep, or feel ‘tired but wired’, know you are not alone!
This inspiring workshop will explore sleep and nervous system health through a deeper , nervous system focused lens, helping you understand why rest can feel difficult – even when you are doing “all the right things.”
Drawing from psychology, psycho-somatic therapy, nervous system education, meditation, and lived experience overcoming insomnia, Annelies will guide you through the Foundations of Regulation — the biological and emotional foundations that shape human health, resilience and our ability to rest and recover.
The workshop will dive into how our nervous system is shaped from our earliest years of life, and how experiences relating to safety, attachment, emotional expression, connection, agency and rhythm can influence the way we respond to stress, relationships and sleep as adults.
Together we will explore:
* How your nervous system develops during early life
* Why chronic stress, hyper-vigilance and emotional suppression impact sleep
* The Foundations of Regulation and how modern life disrupts them
* The connection between safety, attachment, authenticity, rhythm and nervous system health
* Practical tools to help you calm your body and mind
* Breath, awareness and body-based practices to support deeper rest
* A guided meditation to help you experience what it feels like to be regulated and calm
You will leave with a clearer understanding of how your nervous system work, practical tools you can begin using immediately, and a different healthier relationship to sleep, stress and healing.

Annelies is a nervous system and psycho-somatic therapist, yoga and meditation teacher, and founder of Project Pure in Sumner, Christchurch.
With a background in psychology and psycho-somatic therapy, her work focuses on helping people understand and regulate the underlying patterns driving insomnia, anxiety, chronic stress and emotional overwhelm.
After experiencing severe insomnia herself, Annelies became deeply interested in the connection between the nervous system, emotional suppression, modern life and the body’s ability to rest and heal. Her work combines nervous system education, somatic therapy, meditation, breath and practical regulation tools to help people reconnect with a deeper sense of calm, safety and inner balance.
She is the creator of The Foundations of Regulation — a framework exploring the biological and emotional foundations human beings require in order to feel safe, connected and whole.
A practical and compassionate workshop exploring why rest can feel difficult in modern life — even when you’re exhausted.
Guided by Annelies Basten, a nervous system and psycho-somatic therapist, yoga and meditation teacher, and hosted by Your Lifestyle Medics, this session combines psychology, nervous system education, psycho-somatic therapy, meditation and lived experience with insomnia to help participants better understand stress, sleep and emotional overwhelm.
Through discussion, body-based practices, breathwork and guided meditation, you will learn how the nervous system shapes our ability to feel calm, safe and rested — and leave with simple practical tools you can use today, to support deeper regulation, resilience and sleep.
